Course Description
This micro-learning course provides a comprehensive
overview of Indigenous peoples' connection to land in Canada, focusing on
spiritual connectivity, governance structures, and ecological stewardship. It
outlines the fundamental differences between Indigenous worldviews and Western
perspectives, particularly the holistic approach to living with and respecting
        the natural world.
Through storytelling, such as the teachings of the Spider
(Sabkeshiinh) and the Anishinaabe's seasonal life cycle, it conveys the
importance of every component of the ecosystem and the responsibility humans
have towards it. The document discusses the complexity of Indigenous
governance, pre-colonial political systems, and the impact of colonialism,
while emphasizing the role of Indigenous knowledge in fostering sustainability
        and resilience.
The material is designed as an introductory module for learners
to begin exploring Indigenous histories, cultures, and their profound
relationships with the land, encouraging further learning and engagement with
        Indigenous communities.
